It is traditional in the Philippines to have a midnight feast to usher in the New Year. The meal is called media noche - which is midnight in Spanish - and is usually taken together by family members and friends right after the other traditional Filipino way of ringing in the new year: the orgiastic firecrackers and fireworks display done in every yard and street in the country.
