The Philippines is celebrating National Flag Day today. On this day in 1898, Filipino patriots engaged the Spanish colonizers in a gun battle in Imus, Cavite. Known as the Battle of Alapan, the fight resulted to a Filipino victory and presages the start of broader revolution against Spain.
