71st UAAP

I went to the opening of the 71st season of the UAAP, an inter-university competition, the highlight of which is basketball. The opening was held at the Araneta Coliseum, and my other alma mater UP was the host (UP celebrated its centennial this year).

After the opening ceremonies, in which UP students treated the crowd with pomp, I stayed to watch a game between FEU and Adamson.

I came back the next day to watch my two schools play: UP against NU, and Ateneo de Manila University against DLSU. Both UP and Ateneo won, so I was ecstatic. Manny Pacquiao showed up during halftime to receive an award, and NBA star Gilbert Arenas also made an appearance.
